Das Unheimliche - The Exhibition

This weekend I had an exhibition in my home with nine new works and two old. When the idea of having an "home-exhibition" was born, I was filled with questions. Did I want to let strangers into my home? When will a home become a public place? What happens when the homley is transformed into something un-homely? I came to think of Freud's essay Das Unheimliche.

Das Unheimliche - En hemma-hos-utställning

Välkommen till en utställning i mitt hem som är beläget i Sven-Harrys konstmuseum. När idéen om att ha en "hemma-hos-utställning" föddes, uppstod ett antal frågor. Ville jag släppa in främlingar i mitt hem? När blir ett hem en offentlig plats? Vad händer när hemmet förvandlas till en o-hemlik plats? Jag kom att tänka på Sigmund Freuds essay Das Unheimliche.

"Das Unheimliche är ett begrepp inom psykoanalysen. Det betecknar den olusts-känsla som kan uppstå i samband med att hemmet/det familjära visar sig innehålla ofamiljära element som ej kan förenas med hemmet - varpå hemmet förvandlas till något o-hemtrevligt. Således har känslan en grund i upplevelsen av 1) otrevliga element i det familjära, eller 2) familjära element i något otrevligt/främmande." (Wiki)

Thanks everybody who participated in the Stockholm International Comics Festival 2012 this weekend. I had a really good and exhausting time.

My public talk with canadian artist Philippe Girard went well. I was offered Québécois beer and Philippe was offered Swedish beer. Our discussion contained memories from Russia, Hitchcock and the Truth in comics.

I believe that Kristiina Kohlemainen's spirit kept an eye on things. She was constantly in the corner of everyones eye. And thanks to the efforts of the Serieteket crew the festival came true. See you next year.

STOCKHOLM INTERNATIONAL COMICS FESTIVAL 2012

This weekend it's STOCKHOLM INTERNATIONAL COMICS FESTIVAL 2012 at Kulturhuset. I'm involved in a few of the program events. On Friday I will attend a memorial ceremony for the chief librarian and founder of the festival Kristiina Kohlemainen (1956-2012). During the festival there will be an exhibition with drawings in honor of Kristiina. 60 drawings from all over the world have been sent to Kulturhuset. I have seen them and I think that Kristiina would have liked this exhibition.

On Saturday I'm going to have a public talk with Canadian artist Philippe Girard. On Sunday I'm taking part in a panel discussion about August Strindberg. The Strindberg exhibition called "Livet är inget för amatörer" in which I take part in will open on Thursday at Hallunda Bibliotek. The exhibition has until recently been in Angoulême and Paris.
