NORDIC WATERCOLOUR MUSEUM
CONTEMPORARY NORDIC COMICS 31.1-14.3 2010
"The art of the comic scene seethes with activity. More and more people are reading and making sophisticated comics. The potentials offered by this meeting of images and text appear inexhaustible and today’s Nordic comics exhibit a striking range of both pictorial idiom and content. The stylish and elegant rubs shoulders with the childishly cute and with consciously raw and brutal depictions of life.
For the museum’s opening exhibition 2010 we focus on contemporary Nordic creators of comics. With the help of 19 invited artists we are mounting an exhibition that varies during the exhibition period. We will offer unique original pictures, workshops and wide-ranging programme of activities, lectures and concerts.
Participating artists: Anneli Furmark (Sweden), Sara Granér (Sweden), Simon Gärdenfors (Sweden), Matti Hagelberg (Finland), Bendik Kaltenborn (Norway), Kolbeinn Karlsson (Sweden), Knut Larsson (Sweden), Helena Roos (Sweden), GISP Bjarni Hinriksson (Iceland), Liv Strömqvist (Sweden), Katja Tukiainen (Finland), Marko Turunen (Finland), Amanda Vähämäki (Finland), Ola Åstrand (Sweden), Li Österberg (Sweden)."
